Champlin Foundation Awards $22 Million in Grants in 2018—See the List

The Champlin Foundation announced that it has awarded 189 grants, totaling $22 million to 160 area non-profit institutions over the course of 2018.

“The Champlin Foundation is pleased to provide capital funding and other financial support to a broad range of organizations that do so much for the people of Rhode Island. Funding for much- needed infrastructure and equipment will strengthen many vital charities across the state, helping each achieve more ... all in service of Rhode Island. The work of our state’s nonprofits is essential and their needs are great. This year the foundation received nearly 400 applications in total, requesting over $36 million,” said Nina Stack, Executive Director.

The Funding

The funding will serve communities across Rhode Island.

From support of paddle boards at a community boating center to the purchase of state-of-the-art imaging equipment to improve medical diagnosis, grants this year ranged from $1,000 to over $4 million.

Organizations working in animal welfare, arts and culture, education, historic preservation, healthcare, education, social and youth services, as well as libraries and preserving open space received support.

The funding is spread across the following areas:

  • Animal Welfare - $96,850
  • Arts & Culture - $1,178,925
  • Conservation & Parks - $1,873,000
  • Education - $3,872,460
  • Youth Services - $7,823,135
  • Healthcare - $2,307,125
  • Historic Preservation - $972,145
  • Libraries - $2,320,955
  • Social Services - $1,680,555

 

Champlin Foundation

Since its founding it 1932, the Foundation has awarded nearly $600 million to fund capital projects in Rhode Island to foster better medical care, improve educations, expand access to social services, conserve open spaces, preserve historic buildings, enrich the arts and advance animal welfare.
