Another Chafee economic development plan, lets bankrupt a city. Just add gay marriage, protect a few murderers, create a sanctuary state and we should be number one in business in no time. Where does he get this stuff from?

Todd B

Chafee is right. At least the problem is being addressed in Central Falls. Let's hope other cities and towns learn from this example.

Max Diesel

Todd,
He said it was a positive for economic development not for crushing unions. Only Chafee can make the case for economic development when a city goes bankrupt.

Michael Gardiner

This is the most ridiculous Chafee bashing. Obviously the question is not designed to elicit from a Governor, who has no fault in the circumstance that CF Going bankrupt isn't a "good news" story. Governor Chafee points out that at least its a step forward, showing that the state is moving past the sweep it under the rug, kick it down the road denial of years past. To his credit, he doesn't use the opportunity to launch a political attack on anybody.

Max Diesel

Michael,
That's not what he said. He wants you to believe that by taking these actions, justified as they may be, it will be attractive to business because we aren't kicking the can down the road. That's Chafee trying to put spin on a bad situation.

Michael Gardiner

Max I stand by my comments. I heard what he said. He isn't spinning. He isn't defending himself which is the motive of spin. He skipped past the invitation to state the obvious and went to the only bright side there is. Investors do like to see an organized bottom. Observers do like to see that the sweep it under the rug look the other way, go on as if nothing is wrong times are over. He's doing his job as Governor and he made the right comment for the situation. There's really nothing else to say.

Max Diesel

Michael,
Apparently you and Chafee are in the minority:
