Caprio Named One of ‘Power 100’

Friday, July 09, 2010

Democratic candidate for governor Frank Caprio has been named on the Power 100—an annual list of emerging executives who have made an impact on the finance industry.

Caprio was recognized for his work as the General Treasurer and specifically, his management of the state pension system, according to campaign spokesman Nick Hemond.

“Frank Caprio is known for his proactive management of Rhode Island's pension portfolio,” the Web site states. “Before the financial crisis of 2007, Caprio moved the pension's investments from mortgage-backed securities to safer investments and also limited the pension's exposure to Bear Sterns.”

Caprio is listed as the only Rhode Island-based executive among the Power 100.
