Mayor-elect Angel Taveras has made the first appointment of his administration, naming Michael L. D'Amico as the Director of Administration.
D'Amico, a Providence native, is the vice president and general manager of the U.S. Division of Johnson Matthey Emission Control Technologies, a Pennsylvania-based company. He is a graduate of Classical High School.
“This is a crucial appointment, particularly during these difficult economic times,” said Taveras. “Michael is a proven leader who brings expertise in budget management, operations, finance, labor relations, and an extraordinary business acumen with him to City Hall – all skills that we will need in order to tackle the challenges before us and move Providence forward.”

“I am thrilled to be coming back home to serve the people of Providence and am honored that Mayor-elect Taveras has selected me as Director of Administration,” said D’Amico. “I look forward to working closely with the Mayor and local stakeholders to address the City’s challenges and ensure its long-term sustainability and success."
