UPDATED: Board of Elections Official Has Lynch Sign Next to House

Thursday, September 02, 2010

Robert Kando, the executive director for the Rhode Island State Board of Elections, doesn’t seem too worried about appearing unbiased in this year’s elections. Outside of his 36 Underwood Street home in Pawtucket, is a prominently displayed a Bill Lynch for Congress sign. He also has a sign for Democratic mayoral candidate Henry Kinch and two for Democratic city council candidate Al Vitali.

As the executive director, Kando oversees a state agency whose mission is "to protect the integrity of the electoral process and to effectively and efficiently administer the provisions of the election laws of the United States and the State of Rhode Island including, but not limited to, the governance and conduct of elections, voter registration, campaign finance, public funding of campaigns and any other duties prescribed by law.”

Kando told GoLocalProv that he lives at the address but that the property is owned by his mother, Catherine Kando. He said the signs—which are close to his driveway—are actually displayed on a neighboring vacant lot owned by the state of Rhode Island. He said he did not know who had planted the signs there.

Funny nobody from either campaign office placed those signs at that address. Perhaps it may have something to do with a certain campaign in the city of Pawtucket that has already had one volunteer arrested for voter fraud. It's clearly a setup. Stephen Beale needs to really look at things before reporting them and open his eyes to games played by dirty campaigns.
