Big Brothers Big Sisters Annual Gala Nets Almost $120,000

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State held their 8th annual gala with a Kentucky Derby theme on Saturday, May 2.
The event was emceed by NBC 10's Mario Hilario wile Boston Public Radio host Jim Braude helped raise over $37,000 during the live auction and Fund-A-Match.
“Each year we are able to serve over 500 children with the time and dedication of our Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers. Without them and without the financial support of our sponsors and the guests of our gala, we simply would not be able to provide the quality mentoring programs which make measurable impacts in the lives of children across Rhode Island," said Deborah Saunders, President and CEO of BBBSOS.

The 2015 honorees were Michael O'Connell, General Manager of Balise Toyota of Warwick who received the Champion of Mentoring Award. The second honoree was the late Rick Fox, the Regional Supply Chain Manager for the US East Region for Savers. His family accepted the legacy award on his behalf.
This year's gala netted almost $120,000 for BBBSOS, that marks the best year yet for the organization.
The BBBSOS helps children that are facing adversity by providing strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. There are currently over 100 children on the list waiting for someone to impact their lives.
