State Report Card on Schools: Who Made the Grade and Who Didn’t

The state has released its annual report card on how well schools across the state are performing.
The report measures how well students did on their NECAP test scores. The math and reading tests are administered to students in grades 3 through 8 and grade 11. Only eleventh graders take the writing test. The tests were taken in fall 2009.
The schools must all make "adequate yearly progress" in the NECAP scores, which is defined as the increase in the percentage of students who showed they were proficient in reading, math, and writing. By 2014 students in all schools - in Rhode Island and the nation - must be 100 percent proficient on the tests, according to the No Child Left Behind Act that President Bush signed into law in 2001. Schools must make enough progress each year to be on track to meet this goal.

Perhaps in the future a chart by level (elementary/middle/high school) would be more helpful when your purpose is to compare schools that "made the grade" or not. The current format is not terribly helpful unless you want to look at the whole community.
