Wednesday, August 30, 2017
Ray "Two Hawks" Watson spoke to the current status of the Pokanoket's fight against Brown University over lands in Bristol -- as well as his national appearance on Tucker Carlson, on GoLocal LIVE on Tuesday with GoLocal News Editor Kate Nagle.
On Sunday, the Pokanoket Tribe established an encampment titled the Po Metacom Camp at Potumtuk in an attempt to reclaim the land from Brown University. Brown asserts its ownership of the land.
“We as aboriginal citizens have been denied our birthright to our family’s land, our sovereignty rights, therefore states and powerful organizations have held our wealth over and over to the point that they believe it is their natural gift and natural right to have our property,” said Sagamore William (Po Wauipi Neimpaug) Guy Pokanoket Tribe/Pokanoket Nation on Sunday.
