Reps. Ucci and Newberry on House Rules Changes — on LIVE

Representatives Steven Ucci (D - Dist. 42) and Brian Newberry (R - Dist. 48) joined GoLocal LIVE News Editor Kate Nagle on GoLocal LIVE on Thursday at the Rhode Island State House ahead of the vote in the House Rules Committee to discuss the merits — and debate the more controversial aspects — of the proposed House rules changes in 2018.
Ucci, a Democrat, was first elected to the House in 2004; Newberry, who had previously served as House Minority Leader, was first elected to the body in 2008.

GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTOn Thursday, the committee voted 14-3 on a number of substantive changes, including requiring House leaders to publicly post new legislative language at least 24 hours before a vote; some reform advocates had called for the posting to be 48 hours.
The proposed changes now go before the full House for a vote.
