Linn Freedman, head of Robinson & Cole’s data privacy and security team says while smartphones are great communication devices they could be revealing a lot about you including, personal information like your texts, emails, passwords, contacts, and location.
On LIVE Freedman shared several tips for protecting your data and privacy including the following:
- Use a password/passkey for your lock screen
- Don’t allow your smartphone’s web browser to remember usernames and passwords
- Use encryption
- Disable photo geotagging
- Always run software updates
- Use pass-phrases like “MyfavoritecolorisRed!”
- Be smart about who you connect with on social media
