Special Olympics RI CEO Dennis DeJesus spoke to the 50th anniversary Special Olympics being celebrated in 2018 when he appeared on GoLocal LIVE with News Editor Kate Nagle.
DeJesus spoke to the summer games kicking-off on June 1 at URI -- this year in the Ryan Center, with RI's Billy Gilman performing and Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shrive speaking.
In addition, DeJesus talked about the events that take place year-round through Special Olympics, and how volunteers are valued partners to the small full-time staff -- and how employment opportunities for athletes and special needs individuals are one of Special Olympics continuing goals to make happen moving forward.
