LIVE: New Chowder, New Competition at The Great Chowder Cook-Off
Friday, June 09, 2017
The Great Chowder Cook-Off takes over Fort Adams on June 10 and for the first time in cook-off history, red or “Manhattan” chowder will have its own category alongside New England Clam Chowder and Seafood Chowder.
Michele Maker Palmieri, Owner and President of Waterfront Productions/RI Waterfront Events says they’ve had a lot of feedback and people wanted to see red chowder in its own category, so they made separate one this year.
Over half of the competitors are new to the challenge, Maker Palmieri says. Some of the participants include Red Stripe, Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar, Crowther’s, Brix, The Mooring, and Open Season.
