Friday, May 05, 2017
Leigh Reposa, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with the Rhode Island Youth Suicide Prevention Program, says many people are reacting to the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why differently, and she’s glad to bring attention to a topic that, historically is uncomfortable to talk about.
The difficult topic is teen suicide, and more importantly, suicide prevention. Repost says the reality is teens are already having the conversation, talking about the series 13 Reasons Why.
Reposa says, “it’s not recommended to binge watch” and it’s a good idea to take a between episodes.
If you are an educator or a parent, Reposa says ask young adults if they have seen or heard about the series 13 Reasons Why, take a deep breath and and listen to their answer.
