EcoRI: Prov Water Lead Levels Exceeded Federal Standards 57% of Time in Last Decade
Monday, August 28, 2017
EcoRI Executive Director Joanna Detz spoke to a recent EcoRI study that found that despite the use of lead solder for drinking-water pipes being banned three decades ago, Providence’s drinking-water system is one of the largest in the country to routinely exceed federal lead standards — 57 percent of the time during the past decade.
Detz, who spoke with GoLocal News Editor Kate Nagle on LIVE, pointed out that there is no law that requires these pipes to be replaced, spoke to steps being taken by Prov Water to address the issue.
Detz also spoke to another solar, biomass, fuel-cell and natural-gas proposals at the location of the Brayton Point Power, as reported by EcoRI.
