Flanders Talks Campaign Next Steps, Supreme Court Future on LIVE

Following Representative Bobby Narodlillo’s unexpected exit from the U.S. Senate race on Wednesday, Bob Flanders says he’s now free to focus on the general election in November.
After winning the GOP nomination Wednesday night, Flanders is now the sole Republican candidate running for Sheldon Whitehouse’s seat. Nardolillo’s concession, in Flanders’ words, was a gentlemanly move that, considering the lateness of Rhode Island’s primary elections, will give him an edge in the general election.
Flanders says his main goal is to take the months leading up to November to really get to know the people of Rhode Island and show them that he’s truly a man of the people. Born into a lower-income family, Flanders says he worked hard for everything in life-from working as a mailman and mattress bagger to pay for school to studying hard to earn an academic scholarship to an Ivy League school.

The decision, he says, puts the power in the hands of workers, rather than unions.
In terms of Justice Kennedy’s impending retirement, Flanders says the ideal replacement would be a candidate willing to truly interpret the constitution, rather than simply come in with their mind already made up about cases.
