Lily "Kastiel" O'Neil

Lily O'Neil, a ninth-grader at the Rocky Hill School, appeared on GoLocal LIVE ahead of her opening at Rhode Island Comic-Con on Friday -- which she said she was able to purchase exhibit space through commission on her increasingly popular comic-book style art online.

O’Neil, who said her love of art was bolstered “in the fifth grade” when she won an art competition, spoke to her style, influences, and plans for the future — which she said should include a comic book series soon.

“Marvel was a huge inspiration…I love bold lines and bright colors,” said O’Neil, so spoke to being predominantly a digital graphic artist on the iPad or with an Apple pen.

O’Neil spoke to how “crazy” she found it to be exhibiting at Comic-Conn.

“When I was younger, I always wanted to be there…and now that I am, it’s actually crazy — I recognized some of the artists and a lot of people [setting up today],” said O’Neil.
