Wednesday, March 16, 2011
With Rhode Island sports mascots of all shapes, sizes, and species, Washington Trust's annual PB Xpress ramped up its campaign to collect as many tons of peanut butter as possible for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
At PB Xpress's “Sports Fun Day" at the Warwick Mall, peanut-butter-donating sports fans enjoyed photos with favorite mascots from the PawSox as well as Samboni, the Providence Bruins mascot, Anchorman, the mascot of RI College, and a pair of Washington Trust Star mascots.
Highest hunger rate in Rhode Island in a decade
Washington Trust’s PB Xpress campaign is a statewide drive to collect nutritious peanut butter for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Washington Trust mobilizes schools, businesses, organizations and individuals from across the state to hold their own peanut butter drives for the campaign. This year – with Rhode Island’s hunger rate at its highest level in a decade – Washington Trust is holding a series of community events to engage the public in the hunger issue and secure a record number of donations. Over the last 10 years, Washington Trust’s PB Xpress campaign has collected 87 tons of peanut butter.
