Washington Trust Kicks Off 2012 Peanut Butter Drive
Wednesday, February 15, 2012
Get ready, Rhode Island: it's peanut butter time.
Washington Trust is gearing up for its 12th annual Peanut Butter Drive, the bank's statewide campaign to raise funds, awareness, and yes, peanut butter, for the Rhode Island Food Bank.
With the slogan, "3 million peanut butter sandwiches and counting!" this year's drive kicks off on March 1 and runs all month. Rhode Islanders can become "peanut butter ambassadors" in one of three ways:
• Start a collection at your business, school or community group. Click here, email [email protected] or fill out a participation form to get started.
• Drop off a jar or two of peanut butter at any Washington Trust branch.
• Donate the Difference Online. Just click on the Donate Online button to go to the RI Community Food Bank's virtual peanut butter drive to donate what you would have spent on your lunch.
Why peanut butter
High in protein, loved by children and adults, and expensive for families in need, this simple and delicious food can provide 16 sandwiches for one family... with just one jar.
Since Washington Trust began its Peanut Butter Drives in 2011, the bank has collected 94 tons of the good stuff.
