Vote To Help Classical HS Win $3K in “Make a Musical” Contest

Classical High School is after a $3,000 prize to upgrade its theater program, and you can help it get there by voting online every day.
The Providence public school noted in rankings local and national for its excellence and diversity, is one of 30 semi-finalists in the SMASH "Make a Musical" competition. As of Wednesday, the Rhode Island entrant was in 17th place out of 30 schools. It's time for Rhode Islanders to rally behind the local competitor and push it into the #1 position. The public can vote once a day, so plan this campaign into your daily calendar.

What Classical's theater department stands to gain if it is one of the Top 5 vote getters by the April 10 online voting deadline:

A free Broadway Junior ShowKit that includes the rights to perform a musical
Two master classes with iTheatrics’ New York based master teachers
A local project advisor
Two teacher stipends
A technical theater fund
Part of the prize is a Lowe's giftcard for $3,000, going toward the bricks and mortar for theater improvement. Gift cards can be used to purchase lumber, steel, hardware, tools, paint, and any other materials that relate directly to improving the school’s performance space.
Classical made its way into the semifinals by submitting "a dynamic and engaging photo" that represents the school along with a statement of 25 words or less as to why the public should vote to improve the school's performance space. Classical's statement:
"Rebuilding the stage at Rhode Island’s highest performing diverse high school will breathe life into this distinctive theater."
SMASH is NBC's drama about Broadway, so it's a perfect thematic match for the competition. Watch for yourself on Tuesday nights, at 10pm. And don't forget to vote, Rhode Island!
