Up Close with “Loosies” Stars on Location in Providence

Friday, August 06, 2010

It’s just a normal summer day in Downcity: the sun is shining, men and women with briefcases are strolling the streets, and the windows of Tazza Café are covered with black tarp because Rhode Island’s own Michael Corrente is shooting a movie inside.

Director Corrente’s new film, “Loosies,” is set to be released in 2011. A blend of drama, romance, and comedy, Loosies tells the story of a New York City pickpocket who gets a hard dose of reality when he finds himself expecting a child with a woman with whom he had a one night stand. The film is written by Peter Facinelli, who also plays the pickpocket Bobby. If you think you’ve seen his face before, you probably have: he also plays Edward Cullen’s father, Carlisle, in the Twilight Series films.

We were lucky to catch up with three of the stars of the film on their characters and why they love filming in Rhode Island – Facinelli, Jaimie Alexander (who plays Lucy, the female lead), and Christy Carlson Romano (who plays Carmin, a woman Bobby goes on a date with), whom you may remember from Disney’s Even Stevens.
