Friday, September 10, 2010
Every Friday, enjoy inside tips for making the most of your weekend from Anisa Raoof, publisher and founder of Kidoinfo, the parents guide for Rhode Island and beyond.
Kido Tip 1. Summer Skate
Dust off the ice skates and beat the late summer heat at Brown University's hockey rink on September 12 from 3-5:45pm (minus the the hockey sticks and equipment!) This is a FREE fun family event! Bring your own skates. Rentals will not be available. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information call 863-3717 or email: [email protected]. Brown University Meehan Auditorium, 235 Hope St, Providence.
Kido Tip 2. Celebrate Grandparents Day!
Grandparents Day is celebrated in the US, the first Sunday after Labor Day. Grandparents are special people - share them with your children in person or in memory. If the grandparents live nearby make plans to spend the afternoon together. If an in-person visit isn't an option have the kids send a letter, call, Skype or email a message/photo. For grandparents no longer living, honor them by sharing/recording stories of their life with your children.

The days are getting shorter but the temperatures are still mild. Enjoy an evening downtown with your children, listening to music and watching the famous Barnaby Evans WaterFires burn on three rivers in downtown Providence. Plan to get there by sunset to watch the ceremonial brazier lightings. This week's lighting is scheduled for 7:02pm (earlier sunsets good for little ones!)
