Medical Intrigue: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, by Rebecca Skloot. For anyone (like me) who loves medical trivia... plus it's a human interest story.

Smart Girl Stuff: The new Aimee Bender novel, The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. I love her. She usually writes short stories. Reading this will make you smarter.

Roman a Clef: American Wife, the fictionalized story of Laura Bush by Curtis Sittenfeld.

I didn't want to read it originally, but I just started it and couldn't put it down. Perfect for summer!

Ann Hood is working on a new series of historical novels for young readers, and continuing to tour the country and give readings from The Red Thread, her latest novel. Look for more great summer reads every Monday.
