Storytellers Draw Families to Kennedy Plaza

Saturday, August 07, 2010

It's an urban dream come true.

Kids and parents on brightly colored blankets, under the leafy trees of Kennedy Plaza in Providence. And it's the realized urban dream of KidoInfo founder (and GoLocalProv contributor) Anisa Raoof, whose KidoInfo Providence Story Times have become a summer hit with families near and far. Every Tuesday at 10am through the end of August, listeners (of all ages) can enjoy the stories like the ones you see being told here, by well-known local storyteller Mark Binder.

Coming up for the rest of the month:

August 10: BIG NAZO interactive storytelling.
August 17: Featured reader Carolina Briones from Providence Community Libraries reads in English and Spanish. Jamie Michalak, author of Joe and Sparky Get New Wheels and Larry and Rita will also do a read from her books.
August 24: Author Anika Denise’s and illustrator Christopher Denise will read their book Pigs Love Potatos.
August 31: Featured book: The Crow by Alison Paul, interpreted by Travelling Theater.
