Monday, November 26, 2012

Students from the Riverside Middle School in East Providence perform at the State House Holiday Concerts in 2011. The season of music begins this week.

The marble hallways of the Rhode Island State House will be filled with joyous holiday music, as school musicians from Scituate, Jamestown, Warwick, Barrington, Wakefield, Providence, East Greenwich and North Kingstown kick off a month-long musical celebration of the holidays during the holiday season, starting this week.

“This year will be our biggest celebration to date,” said Randall Rosenbaum, Executive Director of the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA). “Over 3,500 student musicians from sixty-six schools throughout the state will perform at the Rhode Island State House in a special series of musical performances.” The concert series starts on Tuesday, November 27th and runs through Friday, December 21st.

All concerts are free and open to the public.

The concert series, organized by the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, will feature music of the season, performed by students from schools throughout the State of Rhode Island. The performances are all in the Rhode Island State House.

Hopefully its a Christmas tree this year by chafee!

Michael Trenn

Grinch Chafee will not have a lighting this year. Let's hope that they don't censor the "holiday" (Christmas ) music. If the studants want to sing traditional Christmas carols, they should not be hindered.
