Last night, Jersey Shore mom Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi took a break from motherhood and baby Lorenzo with an impromptu road trip to Mohegan Sun to catch emerging teen star B-Capp’s show at Mohegan Sun’s WolfDen. With her dad and fiancé Jionni LaValle in tow, the trio hit up Ballo Italian Restaurant & Social Club for dinner before the show; dining behind closed doors in one of Ballo’s private dining rooms. Post mangia and music, Snooki posed for photos with B-Capp’s opener, Risky Business, and a group of URI Cheerleaders, then hit the slots and tables with fiancé Jionni. With rumors swirling about Snooki starting a record label, perhaps she will keep B-Capp and Risky Business Mohegan Sun performances in mind when adding to the future label’s roster!
Speaking of Jersey Shore, Rhode Island's own Pauly D joined castmembers in fundraising for MTV's "Restore The Shore" live telethon last Thursday for New Jersey victims of Hurricane Sandy. "If you've seen the Jersey Shore, you've seen Seaside Heights in action," Pauly D said in promotional ad for the telethon. "But that was up until a few weeks ago. The people that live and work here need your help and cannot do this alone. Please do what you can to help restore the heart of the Jersey Shore."
Not only did dads and daughters get back to tradition in Cranston this week with a father-daughter dance for Cranston elementary school girls, at Rhodes-On-The-Pawtuxet, but they had a little help from American Idol winner Scotty McCreery, who performed for the screaming crowd. McCreery won the 10th season of Idol in 2011 and has been on an expanding career trajectory since then. With McCreery's debut album Clear as Day reaching number one on the Billboard 200, he joins Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert as the only Idol contestants to have a number one album. Last Thanksgiving McCreery performed at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, where Rhode Island's own Miss USA, Olivia Culpo, will appear this year. Cranston was also rocking to gospel and a little bit of voodoo Sunday night when famed musician Dr. John joined the Blind Boys of Alabama on stage at the Park Theatre for a concert that packed the house. The legendary musicians were in Rhode Island for the final stop on their 7-week tour, and took the spiritual act right to the aisles, as the whole house was on its feet, stomping and clapping. The vivacious Blind Boys were the perfect complement to the funky coolness of Dr. John, who has worked with artists such as the Rolling Stones, James Taylor, and Van Morrison (not to mention nabbing 5 Grammy's and recently being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame).
