He's still got it: teen heartthrob Shaun Cassidy

He wasn’t here to solve mysteries; he was just having a good time with his family. Shaun Cassidy, the '70s teen heartthrob from The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries television show, was seen out and about town in Newport this past weekend. Son of Academy Award winner Shirley Jones and Tony Award winner Jack Cassidy, Shaun got his start while still in high school. He landed a recording deal with Warner Bros. and got a Grammy nomination, and from there it was history. After his time as a Hardy was up, he released a few more music albums and starred on the TV show Breaking Away, and now he’s primarily a TV writer and producer. Cassidy was spotted with family enjoying the local fare and ambience at The Mooring. Hope those of you who grew up with his wavy brown locks caught a glimpse…

There was a real "A-Lister" at Downcity Restaurant on Sunday. Rodiney Santiago from The A-List: New York was spotted eating at the former Kitchen Nightmares eatery. For the uninitiated, The A-List: NY is a Real Housewives-style show on the LGBT network Logo that follows the lives of six gay and bisexual men in New York. Santiago is a Brazilian model and during the first season of the show, his main storyline was his relationship with Reichen Lehmkuhl, who is known for winning the fourth season of The Amazing Race and for his previous romance with Lance Bass. And before you go drawing any hasty conclusions, he wasn’t there for Downcity’s popular drag brunch…

Get ready to scream! The Rock and Shock festival in Worcester this weekend (October 14-16) is going to bring a whole slew of horror and entertainment stars to the area. The "shock" part, taking place at the DCU Center, is being headlined by Freddy Kreuger himself, Robert Englund,

along with Lance Henriksen (Aliens), Roddy Piper (WWE), Gary Busey (Lethal Weapon), and more. For the "rock" portion at the Palladium, the Insane Clown Posse (appropriate for the event) will be performing with others, and Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley will appear as a celebrity guest. But even more exciting is the world premiere of new horror film Inkubus on Saturday, which was filmed entirely in Rhode Island. Stars from the movie that will be in attendance besides Englund are NSYNC member Joey Fatone, William Forsythe, Jonathan Silverman, and more. In addition, the Boondock Saints duo Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flannery is scheduled to show up. What a way to get pumped up for Halloween...

You read right here that 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin's foundation donated $10,000 to Adams Memorial Library in Central Falls. Did you know that Baldwin actually called the library last week and told the front desk worker he wanted to send them a check for ten grand? The library's fundraiser last Friday night featured guests including Rep. David Cicilline donating to the library's cause. Baldwin said he'd like to visit the over 100-year old building himself, and we'd certainly have no complaints of he decided to stop by Providence as well...

There's a new book about The Biebs in which a Brown University grad plays an important role. Belieber!: Fame, Faith, and the Heart of Justin Bieber by Cathleen Falsani (who has interviewed famous people such as Barack Obama, U2's Bono, Elie Wiesel, and Anne Rice) is about tween singing sensation Justin Bieber's Christian faith and the part it has played in his success. One chapter of the book addresses Justin's charitable works, and largely focuses on Adam Braun, Brown '06, the younger brother of Justin's manager Scooter Braun. Adam was inspired by his travels during his junior year at Brown to form a charity called Pencils of Promise. The foundation builds schools in impoverished areas of the world, and Justin was one of the organization's first supporters, and is now one of its biggest advocates. Just goes to show how Rhode Island alums end up in high places…
