SEEN: Renee Zellweger, Clapton + More

Friday, April 12, 2013

Just checking out the band: at Mohegan Sun Arena to support her current boyfriend at Eric Clapton's concert--Renee Zellweger.

This past Friday, Oscar winner Renée Zellweger was in attendance at the Eric Clapton concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. The actress attended in support of her current boyfriend & Clapton guitarist Doyle Bramhall II. The members of Green Day, including the recently rehabbed Billie Joe Armstrong, also took in the Clapton show as they were in town early for their Saturday evening performance.

Eyes have been peeled on the streets of Providence for Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana, who are in town filming Infinitely Polar Bear, the story of a bipolar dad trying to take care of the kids while his wife gets an MBA. While Ruffalo was spotted on Federal Hill, stepping out a side entrance of The Old Canteen Restaurant with director Maya Forbes, that was all business (they were filming inside the classic restaurant). On the social side, Ruffalo and Saldana have been spotted grabbing a bite more than once at Blount Clam Shack tucked away in Providence's Jewelry District.

In town to film and sample local fare: Zoe Saldana.

It was rock and roll legend time in Kingston this week when the man himself, Bob Dylan, held court on stage at the Ryan Center. Those who know Dylan may not be surprised to learn that he played the entire concert (his fourth in the Ocean State) without saying a word. The famously reclusive star traveled from his trailer to the stage, did his concert, and went right back. Part of the Dylan mystique.

More celebs continue to support the good works in Central Falls. Homegrown superstar Viola Davis sent some love and dollars to the Central Falls Chess Team, which just competed at nationals in Nashville. On the heels of a $2,000 check from the Alec Baldwin Foundation, Viola upped the ante, sending a $2,500 check toward the team's future needs.
