Seen: P. Diddy, Wyclef & More
Wednesday, April 20, 2011
If you were by the Westin Hotel in Providence this weekend and saw a lot of people dressed in white, this may have been why. P. Diddy, who was in Providence for the weekend with his group Diddy Dirty Money for Brown’s Spring Weekend, rented out the entire first floor of the Westin for the weekend to party pre- and post-concert. You also may have spotted his massive SUV limo driving around town…
And if you were at Brown's Meehan Arena, you also got a pop-up Wyclef Jean concert. Diddy was so late taking the stage, the gracious scholar who is currently a fellow at Brown, stepped up and favored the crowd with some songs.
Johnston’s DJ Pauly D is really in the spotlight lately, but for good reason. The latest news is that 50 Cent is extremely interested in signing Pauly to his record label, G-Unit Records. A three-album deal has already been mentioned, along with a line of Pauly D merchandise including, of course, headphones. There have also been talks of potential collaborators, maybe East Providence-born Kim Schifino of electronic group Matt and Kim?

Besides Real Housewife Jill Zarin on Friday evening and Aaron Sorkin on Saturday afternoon, Hollywood heartthrob James Franco will be giving a talk as part of the Ivy Film Festival. He’ll be heading over from RISD (where he’s currently a student) to speak in the newly built Granoff Center on Friday, but it’s first come first serve, so better get there early to guarantee a spot. Maybe he’ll discuss living the “high” life on the red carpet…
