It's a big night in Rhode Island when two huge music stars roll into town and share one stage. Monday night, internationally known rapper
Nas and eight-time Grammy-winner
Lauryn Hill held court at
Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel in
Providence. It's been a long time coming--the last time these two legends collaborated was on the single "If I Ruled The World" in 1996.
Nas, aka Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, is widely considered one of the greatest rappers ever, having been named by
MTV as the #5 Greatest MC of All Time. With eight consecutive platinum and multi-platinum albums to his credit, Nas is also known for his highly publicized feud with rapper
Jay-Z in 2005. But it was all about the love at Lupo's last night, as he rapped to a packed house. #LIFEISGOOD was all over Rhode Islanders' Twitter feeds on Monday night, calling out Nas' latest album, his 11th studio album, on
Def Jam Recordings.

Hill held up her end of the big bill in Providence. Having not released an official album since her MTV Unplugged 2.0 in 2002, Hill is road testing her Black Rage single, and it turns out, getting into a bit of a scrap her own these days… with
Wyclef Jean (who spent a year in Providence at
Brown University as a visiting fellow). Wyclef's autobiography
, Purpose: An Immigrant's Story, claims that Hill made him believe that her first child was his baby. Wyclef also describes Hill's relationship with
Rohan Marley in the book, blaming her for the break-up of
The Fugees. For the record, Hill did seem to address Wyclef's allegations at the duo's concert in
Dallas recently with a speech about taking the high road. But mum was the word in Providence... just a whole lot of good music for hundreds of fans.
Speaking of babies, super-pregnant super-model
Gisele Bündchen and
Tom Brady were spotted brunching recently at
David Burke Prime at nearby
Foxwoods. The world-famous supermodel was also recently spotted south of Foxwoods on the beaches of
Miami's South Beach last week, getting some much-needed rest before the next Brady arrives.

Home town rocker John McCauley will be home for the holidays, when Deer Tick hits Fete Lounge in Olneyville. Photo: Rollo & Grady Sessions, Vimeo.
Hometown boy
John McCauley will be home for the holidays, after swinging around the globe with
Deer Tick's concert tour in
Europe and headlining his own night at
Carnegie Hall in
New York City.
Fête,
Olneyville's busy music venue, has put tickets on sale for Deer Tick holding court on December 30, 2012. Given the band's love of showing up in local bars for sets and raucousness, that may not be the only chance we get to see the boys, but it's the one you can buy tickets for in advance. Can't wait? Book a flight to
Los Angeles--the band will be on stage with
ZZ Top and
Flogging Molly for the
House of Blues 20th Anniversary Celebration on December 4.
