You can practically hear him singing, "Oh what a beautiful morning," from here. None other than the immensely talented Hugh Jackman was cooling his heels in Ocean State, and at the luxurious Ocean House Inn, no less. Jackman even snapped a sunrise photo from the deck of the renowned Watch Hill resort and tweeted it to his universe of admirers. Was the Tony-award winning Australian actor taking a vacation after recently wrapping up his 10-week run of Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway, at NYC's Broadhurst Theatre? Or gearing up for heading to the UK in March to begin filming a long-anticipated film version of Les Miserables (Jackman will play Jean Valjean opposite Russell Crowe as Javert). Maybe the gifted star will hit RI on his way back to New York this spring, where he is rumored to be going back to Broadway to headline a new Houdini musical by Wicked's Stephen Schwartz and The West Wing's Aaron Sorkin (late of Brown's Ivy League Film Festival).
And if Wolverine in Watch Hill wasn't enough, the queen of quick nuptials was in the Capital City this weekend, as Kim Kardashian was spotted at the Westin Hotel. Kardashian was expected to head to Federal Hill to meet up with WWE alum (and four-time world champion) David Batista at Amici, but Kardashian never made it to Atwells (sources say she dined at Centro, the Westin's upscale eatery). Batista, meanwhile, who was hunkered down at boutique hotel Cafe Dolce Villa, was spotted enjoying the Mediterranean ambience at Skarr, Federal Hill's hookah lounge.
Life just gets better and better for the savvy Pauly D. The latest? RI's ambitious DJ and reality star just signed with SMS Audio, rapper 50 Cent's premier audio headphone brand, to collaborate on a headphone line. This adds more love to the relationship Pauly enjoys with the megastar and businessman, who recently signed Pauly to his new record label, G-Note Records. "Partnering with SMS Audio and 50 Cent is an incredible way to start 2012," said DJ Pauly D. "Having my own headphones has always been a dream of mine, and now that dream is a reality. I'm excited to begin creating and developing my line."
And did you see local girl gone celebrity Claudia Jordan at the RI Convention Center over New Year's, when she hosted the NYE World Party? Jordan is a RI native, but she's made her mark in LA, where she graced Howie Mandel's pyramid of models on Deal or No Deal, and fought for Donald Trump's favor on season 2 of Celebrity Apprentice. If you knew her when, you knew the beauty held the Miss Rhode Island Teen USA title and represented RI at the Miss Teen USA pageant. Further, Jordan represented Miss Rhode Island in Miss USA 1997, and made the Top 10. Jordan also co-hosted the Miss Universe 2009 pageant with Billy Bush.
And keep your eyes peeled for a little summertime early, when the pride of Athens, Georgia--the B52s--will headline this year's big Hasbro Children's Hospital Gala on March 3. We're loving this year's theme, BATTLESHIP, based on the upcoming film based on the game, and tickets should jump out the door. Don't miss it.
