They know they can dance--Dancing With the Stars team Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer cut a rug at Mohegan Sun on Friday. Photo: Mohegan Sun.

Whether you loved Dancing with the Stars or had a Disney-Channel-fueled fixation on That's So Raven (or both), you were thrilled to see Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer from Season 11 of the popular ABC series at Mohegan Sun for a special Reality Check on Friday night.

Massey may be best known for playing Cory Baxter on the hugely popular Disney Channel TV show starring Raven-Symone (he also had his own spin-off from TSR, called Cory in the House), but the child star also has had a career in rap, hip-hop, and comedy, before pairing with ballroom dancer Lacey Schwimmer on DWTS, where they were runners-up in Season 11.  At Mohegan, the duo first stopped by Shine 360 to strike a pose for the cameras then Kyle and Lacey arrived in The Cabaret Theatre to perform 2 dances and answer some fan questions. Fans started arriving an hour early in order to grab a seat in The Cabaret, insiders said.

Billy Bob Thornton's new friend, and back in RI for the holidays--Deer Tick and Middle Brother's John McCauley.

After The Cabaret, the dancing stars headed to The Shops concourse to sign headshots for fans. Kyle and Lacey were very down to earth the entire night. They were holding children in their laps while signing autographs, giving high fives and Lacey even gave one of her sparkly bracelets to a young girl whose face lit up at the gesture. At the end of their busy night, they went to dinner at Ballo Italian Restaurant & Social Club. Then this morning they took the trip down to Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs for another round of dance, fans, and fun.

On the other side of the entertainment spectrum, Rhode Island's favorite bad boys were back in town and filling up the ballroom at Fete in Olneyville on Sunday night. Yes, that's Deer Tick we're talking about, and part of the fun they had on stage on Sunday night was putting on clown face makeup, which friends of John McCauley's mom, Marge, thought was her handiwork. But no, that was all done by the band themselves.

Speaking of McCauley, Seen learned that he's got a new friend--actor, writer, director and musician Billy Bob Thornton. When Deer Tick opened for ZZ Top in early December, McCauley ran into Thornton and they hit it off. At the end of the chat, Thornton asked if he could have McCauley's number and said he'd give him a call. John said sure but had no confidence he'd ever hear from the star again. A few days went by, and McCauley was home in Nashville when the phone rang. Thinking he'd forgotten an interview, he picked up. "Hey is this John, it's Billy Bob." Thornton invited McCauley to come over to his studio in LA to gig--a few days too late. The star of Sling Blade said the next time that McCauley's in California to let him know. Now that's a session worth catching...
