It was a tasty afternoon indeed on Friday, when Dave's Marketplace hosted Food Network chef and bestselling author Tyler Florence to sign copies of his new cookbook, Tyler Florence Fresh. The cookbook hit shelves last Sunday and offers a ton of ways to use fresh, local foods to make delicious meals in your own home. Florence creates unique new dishes by pairing different ingredients and using special mixes and flavors. At the book signing and meet and greet, Florence was reportedly a great guest, taking photos and spending time with foodies that waited in line for a signature and a chance to chat with the star.

After the signing, local culinary heroes Matt Jennings of Farmstead, Inc. in Providence and Jake Rojas from Tallulah On Thames in Newport took Florence out for some good old Rhode Island hospitality at–where else?New York System. Jennings made sure the milestone was well documented by posting a photo of the experience on Instagram. According to Jennings' Twitter, Florence also enjoyed a 9-course meal cooked by Jennings himself!

Bryant University students and avid watchers of NBC's "Law and Order: SVU" were treated last Thursday to a visit by detectives Fin and Munch, played by actors Ice-T and Richard Belzer, respectively. Ice-T has

been speaking to kids in middle, junior, and high schoolers for 15 years about the dangers of drugs, gangs, and sex. These days, his talks include topics such as adversity and empowerment, along with stories about his life and experiences. Belzer has done work as a newspaper reporter and a stand-up comedian before breaking into acting in movies like Scarface. Ice-T was retweeting away before and after the visit, giving shout-outs to students who were raving about how funny and inspirational the talk was. His Twitter has been abuzz lately with tweets in defense of himself and his wife Coco, who is taking a lot of heat for racy photos that she took with rapper AP.9.
