Seen: Edward Norton, Usher, & More

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

The stars have already started arriving for the filming of Wes Anderson’s feature film Moonrise Kingdom. First on the scene is Edward Norton, who has reportedly landed in Newport. The Fight Club actor will soon be joined by such other celebrities as Bruce Willis and Bill Murray, as full production is expected to begin soon (Anderson started shooting principal photography on Prudence Island last week). So keep a watch on some of Newport’s most famous restaurants and locations, plus the Kennedy School in Middletown, which will serve as the base of operations for the film company, to see one of Hollywood’s biggest names out on the town…

Now we can add Carrie Bradshaw of the HBO hit show Sex and the City to the list. Candace Bushnell, the author of the book series that inspired the culturally iconic show, has just released the prequel Summer and the City: A Carrie Diaries Novel, which follows Carrie in the summer between high school graduation and the start of her education at Brown. was one of the judges at a dance-off fundraiser at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet that raised money for the Women’s Center of Rhode Island. On Friday, she was the keynote speaker at the organization’s annual Women of Excellence Awards Luncheon on Friday at the Providence Marriott Downtown. As a victim of domestic abuse, she was a perfect choice to speak at the event, which honored those who have suffered from abuse. The non-profit was able to raise over $50,000...

Oh my god! Singer, actor, and dancer Usher performed on Wednesday at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, part of the second North American leg of his “OMG Tour.” Superstar recording artist Akon is also joining him on the tour. Clad in military style black leather, Usher brought the house down with such hits as “Confessions: Part II” and “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love.” After Lil’ Wayne’s concert with Nicki Minaj in March, it looks like the Dunk is starting to become a destination for the biggest artists in hip-hop and rap…
