RISD Students Will Be Featured at NY Fashion Week

When editors of ELLE magazine set out to find some of the most creative young fashion minds in the country, they turned to the talent at RISD, who no doubt provided an innovative crop of young minds. In celebration of the famed magazine’s 25th anniversary, ELLE has partnered with the school to produce Fashion NEXT, a runway show/student design competition featuring 22 RISD students vying for top honors. Notable judges include designers Tommy Hilfiger, Derek Lam and Nicole Miller; ELLE Creative Director, Joe Zee; and American Sikh jewelry designer and actor Waris Ahluwalia, among others. The winner will not only nab the coveted ELLE & RISD Design Award, but will also share a $25,000 grand prize with top finalists. The entire process, from when ELLE first reviewed candidates at RISD in April and May, through the competition, will be presented in a five-part documentary style series on Elle.com.
