RI Students Take Top Honors in SkillsUSA National Championships
Friday, July 01, 2011
It was a big day last week for 75 Rhode Island career and technical students who participated in the SkillsUSA Championships. The students from eight of RI's career and technical schools joined more than 5,000 students who competed in 94 occupational and leadership skill competition areas. 15 students placed in the top 10 in their fields.
SkillsUSA programs help to establish industry standards for job skill training in the classroom. These industry driven competitive events are modeled after the Olympics where the top three individual/teams receive gold, silver, and bronze medals.
