Anthony Quinn

Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival will celebrate the 100th birthday of legendary actor Anthony Quinn with a year-long focus and free screening series.

The series will run through November 2015 and will include free screenings of his films at libraries across the state with a curated monthly series; scholarly monographs at special events; panel discussions with film and history scholars among other events revolving around Anthony Quinn.

Local area college students will also recreate a scene from one of the five films that will be showcased. The films are: La Strada, Lust for Life, Requiem for a Heavyweight, Lawrence of Arabia, and The guns of Navarone.

Throughout his life, Anthony Quinn appeared in over 160 films with roles that ranged from Italian circus performer to the pope. Quinn won two academy awards, the first coming in 1952 and another in 1956, both for best supporting actor. Quinn was also nominated for best actor in 1957.

The celebration of Anthony Quinn will run through November 14, 2015.
