St. George's in Newport is captured on canvas by RI artist Lee Chabot, whose latest exhibit is open now in Providence.

Rhode Island artist Lee Chabot will open a new and vibrant exhibit of paintings called "A Visual Narrative," with a special reception tonight, Friday, October 4th, from 5-9pm at Chabot Fine Art Gallery in Providence.

Chabot’s unique style of painting combines bold strokes with a controlled yet striking color palette recalling the rich landscapes of the Atlantic Coast, French Countryside, Rhode Island and Abstracts.

His works, sometimes complex but other times simple geometrical arrangements, possess a certain vitality and movement shaped by unique and unfettered brushwork.

Through compositions created by line and color, Chabot’s work explores the possibilities of perspective within two-dimensional space, influenced by early Cubism but also drawing from Impressionist paintings focusing on the “essence” of picture making.

Chabot paints landscapes unforgotten, from wide-open ocean vistas to busy market squares. And, while some the works are subtle and introspective; others are full of energy and motion.

Chabot Gallery will present a collection of new works by Lee Chabot, painted in oil and acrylic, completed during 2013. Chabot is a member of the Providence Art Club and owner of Chabot Fine Art Gallery.
