Rep. Joy Hearn (D-Dist. 66, Barrington, East Providence), second from left, greets students from Barrington High School in the State Library at the State House Tuesday. The students were honored for being named Presidential Scholar candidates.

Representative Joy Hearn welcomed 13 students from Barrington High School to the State House Tuesday to recognize their accomplishments in being selected as candidates in the Presidential Scholar Program.

“Barrington High School has 13 candidates, the largest number of any school in the state. Being named a Presidential Scholar candidate is a tremendous honor. The process is a highly selective, academically challenging one. Only 3,000 high school seniors are selected nationally. These students should be very proud," said Representative Hearn.
