Rankings List: New England’s Best Cities 2012

Small-town pleasures combined with big-city attributes to put Cambridge at the top of this year's ranking.

To name the New England's Best Cities 2012, GoLocal crunched data on 16 criteria ranging from median

household incomes to unemployment rates, violent and property crime statistics to public school quality, sunny days and air quality to wifi hotspots, arts employment, parks, and commute times, from each New England state’s largest five cities. (For details on the methodology, go here.)

The result? The first ever all-New England ranking, from #1 to #30.
