Providence Resident Brown To Compete in Spike TV’s Framework

Providence resident, Jess Brown, has been chosen to compete in Spike TV's new original franchise with the first ever Furniture Design Competition Series called "Framework."  The show will premier on Tuesday, January 6 at 10 p.m. and will be hosted by well known hip hop artist, actor and author, Common. 

Framework will show off the nations best up and coming furniture designers as they compete for a cash prize of $100,000 and the chance to have their work sold by a major manufacturer. 

"It is the start of something amazing and unknown for me personally, and for my business career," said Jess Brown about the opportunity.

Brown, a 2009 graduate of RISD with a Masters of Industrial Design and a 2006 graduate of Murray State, is a designer, painter, furniture maker and finish carpenter.

"I've always loved furniture, always been the kind of girl who likes to make her own things. It's one of the oldest professions and everyone uses it," Brown said about her passion. 

"Framework" will be a competition  that will run over the course of ten weeks, and in each episode a contestant will be eliminated by a panel of judges led by Common. 

Jess Brown is one of 13 contestants who were selected for the competition. 

Jess Brown will be hosting a premiere party on Tuesday, January 6 at Rick's Roadhouse on 370 Richmond Street in Providence. The party will be from 7:30- 10: 30 p.m., all are welcome to attend and view the show. There will be a DJ, show inspired cocktails and a full menu at the party.
