Patti Austin Performance to Benefit Rhode Island Community Food Bank
Tuesday, September 21, 2010
Sixteen-year-old Santana Roberts of West Greenwich hosted her first “My Purpose Party,” ™ Locally Grown - Locally Given, last year raising more than $2,000 and 500 pounds of food for the Exeter/West Greenwich food pantries. “My Purpose Party” encourages young people to create a dream party using their talents for a greater purpose in the community or the world. This weekend, Santana, teams with the “1 of 52 Hunger Network” and “Provisions – End Hunger RI,” as well as event producer James Verity to launch her second event featuring Grammy award winner, Patti Austin.
A Four-Hour Extravaganza
The evening includes performance artists, dancers and musicians including Erik Narwhal and the Manatees. The highlight of the evening will be a
duet featuring Austin and Roberts. Local farmers will provide foodstuffs and works by students and local artists are included in the silent auction as are other prizes.
“My Purpose Party” is Saturday, September 25th, 5-9pm at Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket. Donors, sponsors and farmers looking to get involved should contact Roberts at [email protected]. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for 16 and under, available at the door and in advance at www.locallygrownlocallygiven.com.
