Organize + Energize: 6 Reasons You Need to Declutter
Tuesday, April 05, 2016
If you had to take inventory of everything in your home, how long would it take you? If I came over and told you that you had to move out of your home tomorrow, how long would it take you to pack everything up in an organized fashion? How much do you really need? How much do you really use? Those are questions I want you to ask yourself and be honest.
Here are 6 reasons you need to declutter:
Decision making gets easier. How long does it take you to decide what to wear in the morning? The more you have, the more decisions you have to make. Life doesn’t have to be that complicated. The simpler you live, the easier life gets.

You probably waste precious hours in the course of a week. When there is clutter in the way, things get misplaced and you’ll waste time and energy searching for them.
You’ll be more focused. Having clutter anywhere in the home is a distraction and it adds to the mental clutter you are carrying around. Once you declutter and streamline systems in your home, you’ll have a new, energized, focused outlook in your home.
Cut down on cleaning time. Does anybody really like to clean? If you live with clutter and chatzkies scattered throughout your home, you probably miss some spots. I’m sure you aren’t moving everything out of the way to vacuum or dust. When you are organized and streamlined, your countertops and floors are clear and cleaning is a breeze. Less time cleaning means more time spent on the things you enjoy doing, especially on the weekend.
You’ll find money. Not only will you save money by having less, but during the process of decluttering you’re going to find money. Trust me on this. Every home and office I organize, I find money and valuables that clients had been missing. So what are you waiting for? Start searching for your hidden money in the form of cash, checks, gift cards and valuables!
You’ll save money. Look at all of the clutter in your home. How much money do you think you’ve wasted on all of that stuff? Half of it you don’t even use and half of it you can’t even find to use it! Take a look around and think of all of the money you’ve spent. Once you declutter and have a fresh start, you can re-evaluate how you are spending money.
I’m going to leave you with something to think about. Next time you are shopping online or in a store. Ask yourself: Do I really need this? A majority of the time, the answer will be no.
