NewportFILM Screens Top Documentary
Monday, August 16, 2010
In its third installment since launching last month, newportFILM presents The Art of the Steal, a gripping documentary chronicling the long and dramatic struggle for control of the Barnes Foundation, a private collection of art valued at more than $25 billion. The brainchild of co-founders Nancy Donahoe, who is serving as president, and Andrea van Beuren, serving as vice chair, both of whom were instrumental in the founding and development of the now-defunct Newport International Film Festival, newportFILM has promised to bring year-round programming to the City-by-the-Sea.
With sold-out showings of films at the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Middletown’s Sweet Berry Farm, the program moves indoors for The Art of the Steal to be shown at the Jane Pickens Theater this Tuesday, at 7:30 pm. Cinemaphiles should reserve in advance to catch the special pre-reception at 6:45 pm and stick around for the post-showing conversation with director Don Argott and producer Sheena Joyce. Tickets are $20 and available by clicking here.
