NEW: Second Rhode Island Powerball Winner in One Month

Thursday, March 08, 2012

A little St. Patrick's Day Irish luck seems to be in play, as another Rhode Island Lottery player has won the PowerBall® jackpot for last night's $60 million drawing.  This win comes less than one month after the record breaking PowerBall® jackpot was won by Louise White in Newport, Rhode Island.

The winning ticket from last night's drawing was sold from Quickets at 285 George Washington Highway in Smithfield. The winning numbers were 12-35-45-46-47 and Powerball 12. The winner has not yet been announced.

Earlier this week, Louise White of Newport stepped into the spotlight when she came forward Feb. 11 jackpot, which was the sixth-largest U.S. prize. White, the mother of famed Newport musician Leroy White, said she bought the winning ticket at a Stop & Shop supermarket in Newport while stopping there to buy some rainbow sherbet. The Whites have named the fund that will receive the winnings the "Rainbow Sherbet Fund."
