NEW: Royal Gallery Celebrates Artist Alberta Porter

Royal Gallery has welcomed back 94-year-old artist Alberta Porter with her new collection she created for the Federal Hill gallery that's only available for a limited time, and this Thursday, the gallery is throwing a party for Porter you won't want to miss.

Alberta Porter's career has not only spanned decades in Rhode Island, but many aspects of the arts. Porter began her career in the 1960’s designing showrooms, bridal gowns, costumes for dance pageants, and more. She also collaborated on decorating many community-oriented events like the March of Dimes, The American Cancer Society Ball, and political dinners for the Kennedy’s. Among other projects, she did ornate design attires for Liberace and his Trinidad Steel Band. She was also chosen to be an extra in The Great Gatsby movie production filmed at the Newport Mansions designing her own vintage costume. Porter has also created oil paintings of flowers and later turned her hand to sculptures in Lucite.
After 30 years in retirement, Porter has come back full force. The new collection at Royal Gallery includes crafted Lucite sculptures, Paper et’ Tois, and couture jewelry pieces made of precious stones and crystals.
