NEW: PowerBall’s $10K Winner Steps Forward
Wednesday, August 24, 2011

The winning PowerBall® ticket sold in Rhode Island for the August 17 PowerBall® drawing, a $10,000 winner, has been claimed by a Warwick man.
The winner said he wants to put a new roof on his house with the money, but doubts he’ll get it done before Hurricane Irene comes to town.
The winning number was a quick pick that he purchased at I.M. Gan Liquors in Warwick. The ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number, for a $10,000 prize. The winner did not purchase the Power Play® feature for an additional dollar on the wager. If he had, the $10,000 prize would have been multiplied by four, the Power Play® number for that draw, increasing the prize to $40,000.
Wednesday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $47 million.
