NEW: Free Help Arrives for Debris Clean-Up

Thursday, September 01, 2011

For the tens of thousands of Rhode Islanders still dealing with downed trees and limbs, free help is on the way.

Clearing all of the debris left in the storm's wake requires expert chainsaw crews and many volunteers to assist with brush removal. The New England Baptist Convention and other national disaster relief organizations are gearing up to come to Rhode Island to assist with damage assessment and debris removal.

Help is here, for you

If you have downed trees that need clearing on your property, help is available. Call United Way 2-1-1 in Rhode Island by simply dialing 2-1-1 from any phone, from any location within Rhode Island, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ask for assistance.

United Way 2-1-1 in Rhode Island is coordinating calls for assistance. They are working with Serve Rhode Island, who is recruiting volunteers to help in this work. Priority will be given to seniors, disabled and people with special needs.
