Brand new to downtown Providence is Noon, the third boutique opened by RISD alums Nora Alexander and Maie Webb.

This month downtown Providence welcomes Noon, a new boutique owned by RISD alums that sells handmade jewelry as well as paper and home goods. The store's fabulous inventory of jewelry includes earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets. Noon's signature line of greeting cards is letterpressed on tree-free cotton paper, printed with soy-based ink and paired with recycled envelopes. The charming home goods sold include tea towels, soaps, candles, textiles, and glassware.

RISD artists bring retail back to Providence

Founders Nora Alexander and Maie Webb moved out to San Diego, California after obtaining their degrees at RISD and started a business selling handmade jewelry and paper goods. After opening two Noon boutiques on the West Coast, Alexander and Webb have returned to their educational roots for their third location–in the heart of downcity, next door to The Arcade. Along with Jessica Madore, manager of the Providence store, Alexander and Webb are excited to be back and are optimistic about selling to a different market.

Noon's team is hopeful that the new store in Providence can gain the kind of following that they enjoyed in San Diego. "It'd be great to see people start wearing them around town," said Alexander about their jewelry. Their success thus far can no doubt be attributed in part to the attention shown to their customers' tastes. "It's kind of starting to turn into a lifestyle brand," said Madore. "Noon started in jewelry and paper, and all these other products were like second nature to our customers."

Bright, colorful gifts for men and women alike: the delights of Noon.

Noon caters to a wide variety of customers of all ages, and has creative buys for both women and men. (Madore said that her male customers respond particularly well to the wallets, prints, soaps, and candles with more masculine scents.) The jewelry is simplistic yet colorful and vibrant, perfect if you're looking to add that extra pop to your outfit. It is all handmade from sterling silver and 14 karat gold fill, and–with basic earrings from $30 to $50 and the Swarovski Collection ranging from $34 to $42–the prices are simply unbeatable.

One of the best ways to take advantage of all that Noon has to offer is to join 12XNOON. Members of 12XNOON receive a limited edition pair of earrings once a month for a year, gift wrapped and shipped free to their door. This is the perfect holiday gift because not only will your loved one receive specially crafted jewelry exclusive to members, but this gift keeps giving all year!

Looking for something more affordable? At Noon, you can easily come in and pick out an equally adorable gift for $15 to $20. The staff also packages everything with charming wrappings and bows, so to the customer short on time Noon is the perfect place for ready-to-go gifts. To some, the preparation and gift-wrapping of the product is going the extra mile. But to Noon, it's part of an experience that they are happy to provide. "That's what we do. This is for you," Madore said. Jewelry store, lifestyle brand, gift shop–this store is out to prove that good things do come in small packages.
