NEW: $336.4 Million Powerball Ticket Sold in Newport

Monday, February 13, 2012

The 3rd largest PowerBall® jackpot in the history of the game, $336.4 million, has been won in Rhode Island.  If the winner chooses the cash option, the lump sum payment is a record $210 million, the highest cash jackpot ever for PowerBall®.  This is also the largest jackpot ever won in Rhode Island, since the last big jackpot win in November of 2007 for $151.9 million.

The jackpot winning ticket was sold from Stop & Shop at 250 Bellevue Avenue, Newport.  The lucky ticket, which has yet to be claimed, was a $9 wager.  There were three Quick Pick numbers on it with the PowerPlay® option selected.  The winning number for Saturday's drawing was 1, 10, 37, 52, 57, and the PowerBall® number was 11.

This jackpot win is the first since the newly revamped $2 version of the game debuted January 15, 2012.

There was also a $10,000 winning PowerBall® ticket sold in Saturday night's drawing.  This winning ticket matched 4 numbers and the PowerBall® number to win the standard payout of $10,000.  The Stop & Shop at 1128 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, sold that winning ticket.
