Brooklyn's All-Asian garage punk band Hard Nips were the grand finale at Local 121's Speakeasy this weekend.

Thank god it was Friday at The Speakeasy located downstairs at Local 121 in downtown Providence, rock & roll reigned supreme for a night that was bound to blow you away. Hardbodies, Vudu Sister and Hard Nips electrified the room to full blast and crushed skulls with amazing performances throughout the night.

Hardbodies

Hard Nips' fellow Brooklynites Hardbodies went up on stage with their new wavy glam rock and it felt like the reincarnation of T.Rex was happening before your eyes. "(She's) Flexible", "Target Practice", "I Likey", "Feel Some Bodies", "The Great Hereafter",  a cover of Judas Priest's "You Got Another Thing Comin'", "Rockin' Buddies" and "Still The Best" brought some genuine rock & roll that set the mood. Next time these guys hot your neighborhood, you better go see Hardbodies and rock your socks off.

Vudu Sister

One of the best acts that has been tearing up Providence like wildfire, Vudu Sister was up next. Music that will hit you and having begging for more, the quartet featuring Alex Garzone on becoming the epicenter on drums, Damien Puerini's lead guitar pulling off spine-shocking solos like a madman, Keith McCurdy on his rhythmic guitar and powerful voice along with his dad Chris being the backbone on bass possess rock & roll brilliance that you can't ignore. "Revival", "Kid Heroine", "Household Items", a version of The Vaselines' "Molly's Lips", "Got No Time", "Dead Man's Pockets", "One Of A Kind", a rendition of Joe Fletcher & The Wrong Reasons' "I Never" and "Loverboy" had people movin' and groovin' in a frenzy. Vudu Sister is currently working on putting out their second album Household Items out later this year, one of the most anticipated records to come out of The Creative Capital in along time.

Hard Nips

For the grand finale Brooklyn All-Asian garage punk band Hard Nips finished off a night of spectacular live music. If you're a fan of Peelander-Z and Shonen Knife, these ladies are up tour alley. They gained quite the following from their memorable performance at AS220's Foo Fest this past summer, they followed it up by selling out Dusk a month later and tonight was no different. "State Of The Art", "Amazing Guns", "No Action", "Alligator", "Sun Stroke", "Good Reason" and "Picture" caused a rush of pandemonium among the audience and had everyone going insane. After the initial set people were chanting for an encore and Hard Nips delivered with "Surreal Surround", leaving one anonymous concert goer exclaiming "This is the greatest band in the history of the universe!" Hard Nips have a few albums out under the names I Shit You Not and Amazing Guns that are a must for any music fanatic to give a listen. What more can I say? Another great night of rock & roll at one of the coolest places to check out a show, log on to Local121.com for everything you need to know about where you need to go.
